Optical Filter

Santec's optical filter come in two types: the MTF series and the WDM series.
The MTF series is a noise reduction filter for optical communications developed using electrostatic MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical System) technology. It is mainly incorporated into optical transceivers for data communications and supports next-generational small transceiver standards such as SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) and CFP2 (C Form-factor Pluggable 2). This filter effectively removes noise generated during optical signal transmission within the fiber, reducing unnecessary noise light remaining after amplifying the optical power. As a result, the signal quality is improved and helps stable operation of optical communications. It is particularly effective in long-distance transmissions using EDFA (Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier) and high-density networks such as WDM. The MTF series is also expected to be applied not only in telecommunications but also in cutting-edge fields such as space communications, laser spectroscopy, quantum optics, and precision sensing.
The WDM series has excellent optical characteristics such as low loss, low PDL, and low dispersion, and has passed reliability tests in accordance with Telcordia GR-1221. Its high reliability has also been confirmed in field performance.
In addition, the WSS-2000 is an LCOS-based programmable optical filter that supports bandwidth tuning, attenuation, switching, and phase control, making it ideal for evaluating next-generational optical networks.
