Optical Attenuator

Santec's optical attenuators are compact, MEMS-driven variable attenuator components with electrical control. They are mainly integrated into optical transceivers for data communications, and are compatible with next-generation small transceiver standards such as SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) and CFP2 (C Form-factor Pluggable 2). These attenuators precisely attenuate the optical power in the fiber according to the applied voltage, thereby optimally controlling the optical power level and helping to prevent damage to communications equipment and maintain signal quality. They have excellent vibration and shock resistance, low loss, low wavelength dependency, and low polarization dependency, ensuring long-term reliability. They are environmentally friendly products that comply with Telcordia GR-1221 and are RoHS compliant. Bright and dark types are available, allowing for flexible support of a variety of system designs.
