Frequently asked questions
Spatial Light Modulator
- Q. Is reflectance data available for the AR coating? SLM-200SLM-210
-
Yes, we can provide you with reflectance data.
- Q. Is it possible to specify the frame rate?
-
Yes, please choose either 60Hz or 120Hz when ordering.
(Frame rates cannot be changed after purchase.)
- Q. Do you have wavefront correction data?
-
Yes, by using the included correction data, the wavefront accuracy in the 2D panel can be corrected to less than λ/4. The wavefront correction data is stored in the included USB memory. *Excluding SLM-200/-210 AR coating option: -04 (wavelength range 1500-1600 nm). The wavefront correction data was obtained in our in-house measurement environment and we have confirmed that wavefront correction is possible. Correction effects may change depending on the usage environment, such as temperature and mounting method. (Please contact us if you purchased the product in or before March 2021, as the wavefront correction data will not be included.)

- Q. Do you have a VI file for LabVIEW?
-
Yes, the included USB memory contains SDK (Labview) samples. You can download the SLM SDK for Windowshere.
- Q. Do you have a water-cooled chiller? Let us know if you have any recommended products or requirements. SLM-300SLM-310
-
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide water-cooled chillers, but the requirements are listed below. We hope this will help you make your selection.
Joint: Rc(PT) 3/8 inch female
Flow rate:
1 to 2 L/min (SLM-300)
8 L/min (SLM-310)
- Q. Do you have CAD data?
-
Yes, we can provide you with CAD data. Please contact us.
- Q. What kind of spatial light phase modulator is LCOS-SLM?
-
LCOS-SLM is a spatial light phase modulator that enables free manipulation of light by controlling the amplitude, phase, polarization, etc. The liquid crystal mode is VA (vertical alignment(, and it is driven by analog voltage. Refer here for information on the principles at work, the technology, and its characteristics.
- Q. Was the LCOS-SLM developed in-house?
-
Yes, we do everything from system design to manufacturing in-house, so the LCOS-SLM is optimized for each laser wavelength.
- Q. For what wavelength ranges is the LCOS-SLM suitable?
-
We offer products in the wavelength range of 365-1600 nm. You can select the product that corresponds to the light source you are using.

SLM-200, SLM-20, SLM-210: Compatible with 400-1600 nm.
SLM-250: Compatible with the ultraviolet wavelength range 365-550 nm.
SLM-300, SLM-30: Supports three wavelength bands (532 nm, 800 nm, 1064 nm) based on the wavelength of the laser used.
SLM-310: Supports wavelength range 1020-1100 nm.
- Q. Is customization possible?
We can flexibly customize to meet your needs. Please contact us.
For custom and special orders, we will custom-make special SLMs to meet your needs, including heaters and temperature sensors.
- Q. Is it necessary to measure the individual phase characteristics and flatness of each device in order to correct them before actually using it?
- No, you do not need to perform any measurements. We ship LCOS-SLMs with excellent linear phase characteristics. In addition, individual wavefront correction data is provided with each product.
- Q. How phase stable is the LCOS-SLM?
- The phase stability is excellent, typically less than 0.002 pi. The controller that drives the LCOS chip has been carefully designed, resulting in extremely small fluctuations.
- Q. Is a special interface needed to drive the LCOS-SLM?
- No, you do not need to create an interface. It can be driven using a standard graphics card with DVI output.
- Q. At what level does laser damage occur?
- This varies depending on the laser specifications (wavelength, average power, pulse energy, pulse width, repetition frequency), so please contact us for details.
(Reference value)
SLM-200: 10W/cm^2
SLM-300: 200W/cm^2
SLM-310: 1kW/cm^2
- Q. What kind of customers use Santec's LCOS-SLM?
- Santec's LCOS-SLM has been adopted by universities and research organizations around the world. For details, please refer to the case studies (customer testimonials).
Use these to help visualize specific usage scenarios for the products after implementation.
